Courtesy Call to Keio University, March 25, 2014
Ambassador Nenad Glišić and Attache Nemanja Grbić visited Keio University, Mita Campus and met with Jiro Kokuryo, Vice President (for International Colaboration) and Hideko Sumita, Administrative Director, on March 25.
 
Keio has a proud history as Japan's very first private institution of higher learning, which dates back to the formation of a school for Dutch studies in 1858 in Edo, present-day Tokyo, by founder Yukichi Fukuzawa.
Keio University is a private educational corporation and includes affiliated Elementary, Junior High, and High Schools established under the Private School Establishment Law of Japan. 
Keio University is a comprehensive academic enterprise with six major campuses in Japan, along with a number of affiliated academic institutions on or near these campuses. In addition, Keio University also operates a high school in New York. Current number of enrolled students is over 35.000.
Keio University has approximately 250 partnerships with universities and organizations in more than 40 countries, involving education and research in wide-ranging areas. 
 
Main topic at the meeting was the possibility of academic cooperation with our country since there is no agreement on cooperation between Keio University with any universitiy in Serbia so far. Also Ambassador Glišić informed Vice President Kokuryo about current political and economical situation in Serbia and priorities in regard to EU accession.
